I would like to take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself. I am twenty three years old. I have a twelve month old daughter and am five months pregnant with my second child. My husband is the sold income for our family at this time. I am looking to be able to go to a medical transcription university for an opportunity to advance my career and become a medical transcriptionist. Advancing my career by becoming a medical transcriptionist is something I have been longing to do for the past few years now. I have worked in the medical field for about eight years now and for the past two I have worked in dictation at a dermatologist’s office and have enjoyed every moment of it, but have been very interested about the work of the transcriptionist sending me the dictation. How they understand and make out everything the doctor is saying when they are talking to fast, or when the doctor just goes on and on (what do you put in the dictation that is important? Do you leave any of unnecessary information out, if it is just useless rambling “story telling”?) Why use “I” for the problem or diagnosis and “P” for the treatment? In what I have seen from working in dictation, being a transcriptionist has many challenges, and I am up for every challenge that I will have to face in becoming and on the job as a medical transcriptionist. Some of the advantages of work in the medical transcription industry for me would be, being able to work from home and spend more time with my family, I have a twelve month old daughter and another little one on the way. In this hard economy I was recently laid off from my job and am unable to find another position, especially due to being five months into my pregnancy. So in doing this course and becoming an MT it would help my family and me in so many ways. I would just love to be able to have a job with flexibility and provide for my family in this hard time. On the other hand, in my search of medical transcriptionist schools for becoming a medical transcriptionist, I have found many, but Future MT has the most to offer. For instance everything is included in the course such as, the equipment. They have the most reasonable price for the course and the flexibility to work on the course at your own pace, being able to take as much or as little time to complete the course depending on your knowledge in the area of medical transcription and the time you have to dedicate to the course. Another feature is helping with job placement after you complete the course, and being able to offer scholarships to help people in need so they are able to take the course and make it possible for them to advance their careers. Moreover, in the aspect of my educational goals and career goals I would like to be able to start this course and complete it within three to five months and within six months have a job as a medical transcriptionist. This is an excellent opportunity for me to begin a career, not just a job.
