Completing a CNA course and then passing the national CNA certification test are the steps you need to take to become a certified nursing assistant. The certification exam is not that complicated; however, it does require certain knowledge that can only be learned by taking a CNA course (or RN or LPN courses). Knowing what the CNA certification is about and how to easily complete the test will make your move into your new profession painless and smooth.

You will have 2 sections to prepare for on the cna exam: a written part and a clinical part, and upon successful completion, you will graduate with your CNA license.

On the last day of your course, you can already sit your written section, but if you prefer to wait, you can also take the exam later on. Being eligible to take the clinical portion depends on whether or not you pass the written portion. Your classroom lessons on caregiving and medical ideas are the focus for the written part of the exam. The clinical evaluation will come when you have completed the written part.

With a real person to work on, your skills have to be extra sharp in the clinical section. Mastering and demonstrating 3-5 skills you learned is going to be necessary to pass your clinical evaluation.

You will have to demonstrate things like proper hand washing techniques, how to position a patient, how to preserve a patients dignity when they are in a vulnerable state, changing bedpans and more. The wrritten and clinical parts will not happen on the same day, and when you do the clinical part, a medical examiner will be present to review your work. You will learn the outcome of the exam right away once you have completed the practical evaluation.

It is recommended to try sample written CNA certification exams online before you take the real certification exam in person. The facility you did your CNA courses at should offer the CNA certification exam. Your training facility can arrange your practical evaluation for you. If they do not, then you should call the Department of Health in your state to find scheduled exams and locations. You simply need to be sure that your school is certified and able to give you the training you need followed by the certification test.

You may be able to find some sites that offer the practice exam for free for your state, however if you cannot find one, you can usually purchase one for a nominal fee. If you want to start a career in this fast growing field, then you will have to take the CNA certification test and take all of the necessary steps to successfully pass both parts of your exam.
